Case studies and client endorsements
Five engagements drawn from across our work with medtech, diagnostic and digital health companies — and what the people we have worked with have said about it.
Clinical areas we have worked in
We have worked with medtech, diagnostic and digital health companies across a wide range of clinical areas. Each engagement brings its own pathway logic, its own commissioning route and its own NHS audience — and the process flexes to fit. Where we already have evidence-base depth, a new engagement moves faster; where it is new territory, we build that depth alongside the engagement.
Selected engagements
Five named engagements across respiratory, gastrointestinal, ADHD, neurology and diabetes. Each one shows the brief, what we did, and the outcome the client walked away with.
Phyxiom
An RCSI spinout with proven Irish HSE deployment across 13 asthma clinics, clinical evidence showing 30% improvement in controlled asthma and 60% reduction in step-up treatment. Came to us to translate that into a credible UK NHS market entry. We delivered Stages 1–10 of the 12-step process: regulatory baseline, respiratory pathway mapping, reimbursement route through the NHS Payment Scheme, stakeholder map across ICB respiratory commissioning and the AAC respiratory programme, value translation by audience, and a Top 5 Pilot Shortlist scored against 271 NHS Trusts. Outcome: a first NHS Trust conversation underway at Barts, a named pilot shortlist, and a Phase 4 retainer in progress on the year-2 cliff. Investor and Board reception positive.
EnteraSense
A Galway-based medtech with PillSense — the first and only FDA-approved ingestible capsule for rapid detection of active upper GI bleeding — and a US distribution agreement with Cook Medical. Engaged us to shape the UK NHS opportunity post-US launch and identify the right Trust archetypes to enter first. We delivered Stages 1–10 of the 12-step process: UK regulatory positioning (MHRA, UKCA), GI bleed pathway mapping across emergency, acute and inpatient settings, reimbursement route via the NHS Payment Scheme and the Innovation Technology Payment, AAC alignment in gastroenterology, stakeholder map across acute Trusts and ED commissioning, value proposition translation, and a pilot site shortlist. Outcome: a decision framework for UK market entry sequencing, recommended Trust archetypes (regional acute centres with high upper-GI-bleed volume), pilot site shortlist, and an input into the firm's UK partnership and distribution conversations.
Cortech Connect
A neurofeedback-based ADHD therapy company that engaged us to find a credible NHS entry point for what was, at the time, an unusual modality in mainstream commissioning. We delivered the pathway and market analysis: ADHD service mapping across CAMHS and adult ADHD services, identification of the most receptive Trusts and clinical leads, and the value proposition tailored to the commissioning realities of the day. Outcome: a clear NHS entry point and a working pilot at a named Trust. The wider initiative was ultimately stalled in 2020 by the impact of COVID on non-acute service development — a reminder that even well-designed strategies sit inside a system whose priorities can be reset by events outside anyone's control.
Head Diagnostics
A Trinity College Dublin spinout with two products: iTremor One — a handheld device measuring ocular microtremor as a neurophysiological biomarker for Parkinson's — and HDx Cognition, a digital cognitive assessment platform exclusively licensed from Philips. Already engaged with Northumbria University and the NHS. Asked us to structure a coherent two-product UK NHS adoption pathway. We delivered Foundation and Scaling across both products: MHRA SaMD class assessment, DTAC, neurology pathway mapping across memory clinics and movement disorder services, AAC Innovation Pipeline assessment, stakeholder map covering the British Neurological Society, neurology services and dementia networks, and a value proposition translated for each audience. Outcome: delivered Foundation and Scaling across both products.
Digostics
A Harwell-based diabetes diagnostics company whose GTT@home is the world's first and only home OGTT — now available via NHS Supply Chain and in use across NHS gestational diabetes pathways. Over more than a decade of work, we have been strategic advisors to the Chairman across multiple phases of the business. We built an economic model showing avoided costs from moving the OGTT out of clinic into the home. We developed the value proposition for the journey from home test to broader diagnostic platform — across gestational diabetes, prediabetes, Type 1, Type 2 and cystic-fibrosis-related diabetes. We built a Trust Cost Calculator that the commercial team uses live in sales conversations to quantify the cost case for each prospective Trust. Outcome: a sustained advisory relationship; NHS Supply Chain placement and growing Trust adoption.
